Um Ali Bread Pudding Vegetarian
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry
2 ½ cups milk
2 ½ cups heavy cream
1 vanilla bean
1 cinnamon stick
0.8 oz butter
¼ cup coconut flakes
¼ cup roasted walnuts
¼ cup raisins
¼ cup roasted pistachios
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Preheat the oven to 350F.
2. Place one sheet of puff pastry on a nonstick baking tray. Use a fork to cover the pastry in small holes and bake at 350F for about 10 minutes.
3. In a small saucepan over low heat, combine milk, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and butter. Stir continuously until it smooths and thickens slightly.
4. In an oven safe dish, crumble about ¼ of the puff pastry into it. Then begin sprinkling layers of coconut, walnuts, raisins, and pistachios atop the pastry pieces. Continue doing this until all the pastry and toppings are used.
5. Then, begin to ladle the cream atop the mixture in the dish.
6. Once the dish is full, bake at 480F for a few minutes, until the top begins to brown.
